It's a product of a Staten Island face stompin', and I'm damn proud. Later on, Mase was quite proud of this, as he said in 2009, “Why do you think I sound so f*cking stupid?”, referring to his limp and lispy vocal style, "You think I want to rap the way I do? I once heard Puff say to a reporter that my voice was a product of my Harlem swagger. Rumour has it that Ghostface Killah was the one who punched him, but Ghostface actually raps on “Malcolm” (from Supreme Clientele), “Yo I-Cham punched Mase in his face over some bullshit.” Most people don’t know who I-Cham is, but he is a Wu-Tang affiliate member. It culminated one night at an NYC club when Mase got his jaw so badly hurt that he had to have it wired shut for 6 weeks. Mase was yapping his mouth off about the Wu-Tang for some reason, and word eventually got to the Wu members. Mase experienced this first hand around 1996. But back in the day, you had to punch a mut***ucker out. Nowadays people yap their mouth off on social media etc. Rappers (and everybody else) were much quicker to settle their beefs. If you didn’t experience the 90s, you don’t know how much more intense it was than now. You’ve seen him getting’ jiggy with it' in his shiny suit with Puff Daddy in the “Mo Money Mo Problems” music video. feat.Anybody who follows 90s hip-hop knows Ma$e from Bad Boy Records.
